An Author’s Daughter’s Life’s Like That
I will start this post by thanking you all for giving me all the love and wishes on my 18th monthly birthday. I celebrated this one with Dad’s annual Birthday and I felt simply amazing. We cut the cake and played a lot. Mom and I gifted him a wrist watch that he liked immensely. He is using that watch these days
As I had mentioned in my last post, Dad got a publisher for his maiden novel. The rest of the month, he was busy with his book and publication. He works till late night and keeps busy on weekends – but he never let me or mom suffer for his passion. He always finds time for us. That’s what I like a lot.
Back to book – It was a tough ask as it took so many iterations before the book was selected. And then cover design, blurb, about author, about book, acknowledgements, and so many things he had to prepare and design.
During this month we also visited Daadi’s house in Udaipur and everyone their celebrated this grand success of Dad. After some delay and wait, the book finally released on 7th October 2013 and the first retailer was Dialabook.com. After this in a week’s time, we had our book in seven major online outlets. I have shared a link of the page where all the links of books are available.
So now I am daughter of a published Author and that is a big recognition. We received complimentary copies by courier and Dad collected the parcel in his office lunch and straight came to home to let me and mom open that. We opened and I kept couple of copies in the temple to thank God.
Rest copies were kept to be gifted to some VIPs like Dad’s director Jitendra Pardasani, his mentor Dr. Ritu Dutta and Sanjive Kumar at TOI, Mom’s director Nitin Gupta, Delhi house, Udaipur house, Aimy aunty and few more.
Initial response of the book has been overwhelming. An executive from Homeshop18 told us that the books went out of stock the day they stocked it.
Meanwhile, my great grand Naani in Delhi got hospitalized due to Asthma attack. We went to see her one weekend. And interesting story about that visit was that we stayed Aimy aunt’s house a night before we had to embark. And at 11 PM Dad realized that he had missed out booking the ticket. Now there was no way to get new tickets. Then finally, we left the house at 4:30 next morning and Dad lined up in the queue to learn that window for double Decker train will open at 5:30. We got tickets but were not sure if we will get seats. Then mom asked an elderly uncle and he explained that seat is sure but just the position of seat is not given at the time the ticket was allotted.
We got seats adjacent to each other and we finally reached Delhi. Next we received guests from Kota and saw Bua daadi and foofa-Dadaji from Kota. I always enjoy with them
Now we are all set to enjoy Diwali in Daadi House next week. Dad’s working on his articles and some presentation. Mom’s in kitchen and I am now going to enjoy the Photo Booth in my iPad.
And then I have to sip my drink and then walk after dinner, and then couple of TV serials and then one news hour show and then check the doors and then sleep. Too busy You see!
Lots of Love
