Since the day I opened my eyes, my parents had been planning for my first birthday. I was sure that it will be awesome and magnificent. And guess what, it was!

[March 15, 2013] Both Mom and Dad were extremely busy throughout the day. While family members kept reaching for the big occasion, my parents were running throughout the day for preparations. It was in the case when they had outsourced everything from decoration to catering.

The day begun with the Pooja of Shri Satya Narayan Bhagwan. It was interesting story and I loved it. I paid full attention in the Pooja and we did a small Havan too. After Pooja, all had lunch.

It was time for rest for all so even I rested a bit as I had to take care of the evening function na!!

Around 4, Mom left for Parlor while Dad, Mayank Mama, Deepu Mama, Achin Mama, and Ankur Mama left for their grooming. They all returned by 6:30.

In no time in trips, we reached the Junagarh at Iskcon road where the function was planned. I had put on a princess gown of royal blue color.

The venue was highly adorned with balloons. Hundreds of balloons were there and I was wondering who stuck them all. At the entry we were greeted by the management. And inside it was royal treatment that we got. Mom had planned it all so nicely. She’s too good in event management I realized.

The ambiance was nice and soothing. We had a discotheque booked where the music was loud, smoke was fragrant, and light effects were electric. I had my share of dance with Mayank, Deepu, Ankur, Achin Mama, Anvi chachi, Yati mausi, and Nishu chachu.

By 8PM we were all set to cut the cake. Many guests had arrived. Most of them were familiar faces while few of them were new to me. Dad handed me over to grandma and Nani. They held me and I cut the cake. Later Dad with chachu and all mamus helped blow the candle. Dad secured a wish for me.

I was then taken to the discotheque where everyone of course except Dad danced with me. I loved the energy of the floor. Everyone was so highly charged that even I danced as hard as I could. Chachu and mamu while performed some exotic dance steps, mom, chachi and yati mausi kept it simple.

After some half an hour we came out. Number of guests had doubled. Many had come from Dad’s office and few from Mom’s office too. Our society members were all present as well. Grandpa and Nanaji signaled the serving staff to start with dinner as it was already close to 9 PM. Dinner was delicious. Hara Bhara Kabaab was a dish liked by many.

Towards the end, Dad’s some office mates also appeared. They work till late so arrived late but it was really nice to see so many people are there in our family circle. By next year, I will have my own friend circle too for sure.

Meanwhile Chachu and Chachi had their dinner early as they had to leave for Udaipur. Construction work at our Udaipur House was on full swing so they could not afford to stay away longer. Also grandpa and grandma were staying here in Jaipur so there was no one back home.
I saw them off and they promised to see me back soon. I agreed and let them go.

Back to the party, towards the end we all family members had our meal. In the end while packing up, the resort staff begun to pin the balloons. We waited for some time and then Mayank Mama jumped and started to burst balloons from his feet. He was soon joined by all. I was too happy to see that even Nanaji and Grandpa enjoyed bursting balloons.

Dad then finally made the payments and we thanked the staff for their awesome hospitality and services. Our cars started and we were home in no time.

I was tired but still played with elders. But soon all slept and my first birthday was over and I had stepped into a whole new year.

This year I have to start walking and talking primarily. And there is lot more to do besides pulling legs of everyone and turning naughtier than ever.

A final word of Thanks to all of you who attended my first big celebration or missed it. I hope this blog will help you picture the whole scene of the big day of my life. I have too much to share like my first Holi, first movie, and first cricket match and so on. Do stay tuned. And yes, now I will try my best to come frequently here.

Lots of Love
Prashi (Shranjika Shrivastava)
